SVASTIK: Validating Traditional Knowledge

The International Conference on Communication and Dissemination of Traditional Knowledge was inaugurated at Gurugram University. This event is a collaborative effort between the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) and Gurugram University. The primary goal of the conference is to highlight and promote traditional knowledge through scientific validation.

Introduction to SVASTIK

SVASTIK, which stands for Scientifically Validated Traditional Knowledge, is a platform dedicated to promoting Indian traditional knowledge. NIScPR has made significant progress in sharing SVASTIK stories, with these narratives now available in 17 languages across India. The use of social media platforms has been pivotal in expanding the reach and engagement of these stories, making traditional knowledge accessible to a wider audience and fostering a deeper understanding of cultural heritage.

The inaugural session also saw the release of several important publications, including a Souvenir and Abstract Book. In addition, two digital flipbooks were introduced, focusing on the “Treasures of Indian Traditions.” These flipbooks, available in Hindi and Punjabi, aim to increase accessibility for regional audiences.
