The Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), an initiative spearheaded by the World Economic Forum, has reached a significant milestone by extending its reach to 25 countries. This expansion, encompassing seven new nations—Angola, Bangladesh, Gabon, Guatemala, Kenya, Senegal, and Tanzania—brings the total population under its influence to over 1.5 billion. The initiative underscores the urgent need for sustainable plastic waste management solutions on a global scale.

Each year, approximately six million tonnes of plastic waste infiltrate oceans, with even larger amounts contaminating land. GPAP is committed to reducing this waste leakage by advocating for sustainable materials, which not only benefit the environment but also foster economic growth.
National Action Roadmaps: Tailored Solutions for Impact
One of GPAP’s key strategies is the development of National Action Roadmaps, customized plans designed to effectively tackle plastic waste in each participating country. These roadmaps have already attracted $3.1 billion in investments and have contributed to creating safer working conditions for informal waste workers.
