Professor Maheswar Neog

Professor Maheswar Neog, a renowned scholar and cultural visionary from Assam, made groundbreaking contributions to literature, folklore, and the revival of Satriya dance. Born on September 7, 1915, in Kamarphadia, Assam, he was a dedicated academic whose career spanned linguistics, literature, history, and fine arts. Neog’s academic excellence was complemented by his profound influence on Assamese culture, with significant works such as Sankardeva and His Times and Prachya Sasanavali. His role in promoting Satriya dance to national recognition helped preserve Assam’s cultural heritage.
