RRP Defense BEL Order

RRP Defense BEL Order: ₹29.83 Crore Defence Electronics Deal

RRP Defense BEL Order worth ₹29.83 crore boosts India’s defence electronics and thermal imaging manufacturing sector.

RRP Defense BEL Order has strengthened India’s defence manufacturing sector after RRP Defense Limited secured a ₹29.83 crore purchase order from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). The contract includes the supply of high-precision germanium lenses used in advanced thermal imaging and infrared defence systems.

High-Precision Germanium Lens Supply

Under the RRP Defense BEL Order, the company will supply two important products:

  • GE SF Lens 1 (Ø50X6.0)
  • GE SF Lens 2 (Ø26X4.5)

Germanium lenses are widely used in infrared and thermal imaging systems because germanium can transmit infrared radiation effectively. These lenses play an important role in modern defence technology and surveillance equipment.

Role in Defence and Thermal Imaging

The lenses supplied under the RRP Defense BEL Order will be used in thermal cameras, weapon sights, surveillance systems, and target acquisition devices. These systems help defence forces detect objects in low-light and night conditions.

Thermal imaging technology works by detecting infrared radiation emitted from objects. Unlike normal cameras, thermal imaging does not require visible light to operate.

Electro-optics technology combines optics, sensors, and electronics for advanced imaging and detection systems used by military and security agencies.

Delivery and Manufacturing Process

RRP Defense Limited will design, engineer, and customise the lenses according to BEL’s technical requirements. The company will first provide sample quantities before starting large-scale production.

The first bulk delivery is expected within 8 to 10 weeks after receiving the order. Monthly phased deliveries will continue until December 2026.

Boost to India’s Defence Manufacturing

The RRP Defense BEL Order supports India’s growing indigenous defence manufacturing sector. The contract is also linked with the Government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, which focus on self-reliance in strategic and defence industries.

The order follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Bharat Electronics Limited and the RRP Group. The agreement focuses on cooperation in semiconductors, electro-optics, unmanned systems, and advanced defence technologies.

Key Details About BEL and Germanium Technology

Bharat Electronics Limited was established in 1954 and operates under the Ministry of Defence. The company plays a major role in India’s defence electronics sector.

Germanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ge and atomic number 32. It is mainly used in infrared optics and thermal imaging applications because of its excellent infrared transmission properties.

Electro-optics systems are commonly used in military sensors, night vision equipment, and precision targeting technologies.
