Eligibility Criteria for Indian Army Recruitment 2026
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 17 years 6 months
- Maximum Age: 22 years
- Candidates born between 01 July 2005 to 01 July 2009 (both inclusive) are eligible.

Selection Process of Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment
The recruitment will be conducted in two phases.
Phase I – Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE)

Phase II (Recruitment Rally)
In the second phase of the recruitment process, candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the written examination. A cut-off score is applied depending on the number of vacancies available. The roll numbers of shortlisted candidates are published on the official recruitment website, and selected candidates receive a second admit card for the next stages of the rally as per the schedule of respective AROs.
Selection Process in Phase II
Candidates who qualify for Phase II must undergo several tests to assess their physical fitness, adaptability, and medical condition. The detailed stages are explained below:
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
The Physical Fitness Test is the first stage of the rally and evaluates the candidate’s physical endurance and strength. Only those who clear this stage move on to the next level.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
At the rally site, candidates undergo a Physical Measurement Test where their height, chest, and other physical standards are checked as per region-wise and category-wise requirements.
- Measurements are verified according to official army standards
- Relaxation is allowed only with valid supporting documents
- Candidates failing to meet the required standards are disqualified
Adaptability Test
Candidates who qualify both the PFT and PMT must appear for the Adaptability Test.
- This test evaluates whether a candidate can adjust to military life and challenging environments
- It is conducted digitally using a tablet or mobile device
- There is no fixed syllabus, and it consists of general situational questions
- Only candidates who pass this test are eligible for the medical examination
Candidates who fail the Adaptability Test will not proceed further in the recruitment process.
Medical Examination
Candidates clearing all previous stages will undergo a detailed medical examination conducted by the Army Medical Team at the rally site.

If more than 270 days pass between initial medical and final dispatch, a re-medical exam will be conducted
