Age relaxation is applicable to reserved categories as per the recruitment rules. OBC-NCL candidates may receive 3 years of relaxation, while SC/ST candidates may receive 5 years of relaxation.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualification depends on the post selected by the candidate.

For Yantrik posts, the diploma should be in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering as prescribed in the recruitment notification.

Application Fee

Candidates belonging to UR, OBC-NCL, EWS and other applicable categories have to pay an application fee of Rs. 550. SC and ST candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.

The fee can be paid through net banking, credit card, debit card or UPI through the available online payment facility.

Selection Process

The Indian Coast Guard CGEPT selection process is conducted through multiple stages. Candidates have to qualify in the required stages to remain eligible for final selection.

Stage I – Computer Based Examination: The first stage is a Computer Based Examination containing 100 objective-type questions. The examination carries 100 marks and has a duration of one hour. The examination is conducted in Hindi and English. There is no negative marking. The qualifying marks are 40 for UR/EWS/OBC candidates and 35 for SC/ST candidates.

Stage II – Recruitment Centre: Candidates shortlisted from Stage I will be called to the designated recruitment centre. This stage includes identity and biometric verification, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Assessment & Adaptability Test and document verification. The physical test includes a 1.6 km run, squats, push-ups and bent-knee sit-ups.

Stage III – Training Base: Shortlisted candidates will be called to the training base at INS Chilka. Original documents, identity details and medical fitness will be checked. Candidates will also undergo the prescribed pre-enrolment medical examination.

Stage IV – Final Verification: The final stage involves detailed verification and authentication of original certificates and documents. Candidates must produce their educational, identity and category documents wherever applicable.

Candidates who successfully qualify all required stages and meet the prescribed eligibility and medical standards will be considered for final selection against the available vacancies.
