Florence Nightingale Awards 2026 Honours India’s Nursing Heroes

Florence Nightingale Awards 2026 honoured 15 nursing professionals for outstanding healthcare and nursing service in India.

The Florence Nightingale Awards 2026 were presented to 15 nursing professionals at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 12 May 2026. President Droupadi Murmu gave the awards on International Nurses Day. Each winner received a Certificate of Merit, a medal, and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh. The awards recognised the hard work and dedication of nurses serving people across India.

About Florence Nightingale Awards 2026

The Florence Nightingale Awards 2026 are organised by the Union Health Ministry to honour nursing professionals for their excellent service. These awards are among the highest honours for nurses in India. They recognise the contribution of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), registered nurses, nursing officers, and nursing educators.

The award ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of International Nurses Day, which is observed every year on 12 May.

Notable Awardees Recognised

One of the awardees was Aysha Beebi K from Lakshadweep. She was honoured for successfully handling a critical midnight delivery on a remote island in 2026. Her dedication helped save lives in a difficult situation.

Kulwinder Parhi, an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife from Ladakh, was also recognised for nearly 30 years of service in high-altitude and challenging weather conditions. Her work has supported healthcare services in remote regions.

Dr. Sharwan Kumar Dhaka from Delhi received recognition for his efforts in Covid-19 vaccination outreach and public health services. Major General Lissamma P.V. from Army Medical Services was honoured for her contribution to military healthcare and nursing services.
