India Wins Gold with a Strong Team Performance
The Indian men’s team showed consistent performance in the 50-metre pistol event at the ISSF World Championships. Saurabh Chaudhary, Ravinder Singh and Amanpreet Singh worked together to achieve a total score of 1,659-24x.
China finished in second place with 1,648-26x and received the silver medal. The Republic of Korea secured the bronze medal with a score of 1,643-26x.
India’s winning score was 11 points higher than China’s total. This result highlighted the team’s performance and gave India an important medal at the international shooting competition.
The men’s 50m pistol team event is a test of accuracy, concentration and control. Each shooter must maintain focus while aiming at a target placed 50 metres away. Even a small difference in aim can affect the final score.

Ravinder Singh Wins Individual Silver Medal
India’s success was not limited to the team event. Ravinder Singh also won the individual silver medal in the men’s 50m pistol competition.
He scored 559-11x in the 60-shot individual event. Russia’s Anton Aristarkhov won the gold medal with 561-9x, while Romania’s Luca Joldea secured bronze with 558-5x.
Ravinder’s performance placed him between the Russian and Romanian shooters in the final results. His individual silver added another medal to India’s campaign at the championship.
The other two Indian shooters also competed in the individual event. Saurabh Chaudhary scored 551-7x and finished 11th among 41 participants. Amanpreet Singh scored 549 points and secured 19th place.
These individual results, along with the team gold, showed the contribution of all three Indian shooters to the country’s performance in Doha.
What Is the ISSF World Championship?
The ISSF World Championship is an international shooting competition organised by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). It brings together leading shooters from different countries to compete in rifle, pistol and shotgun events.
The championship provides a major platform for athletes to demonstrate their shooting skills and compete for world titles. Participants take part in different events based on the type of firearm, shooting distance and competition format.
India has a strong presence in international shooting competitions. Indian shooters have won medals at major events, including the Olympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and ISSF championships. The 2026 team gold in Doha adds another achievement to this record.
Understanding the 50-Metre Pistol Event
The 50m pistol is a precision shooting event in which competitors aim at a target placed 50 metres away. It requires steady hand control, proper breathing, concentration and accuracy.
The event uses .22 Long Rifle ammunition. Shooters load one round at a time and use open or iron sights. Optical and laser sights are not permitted.
Another important rule is that the pistol must be held and operated with one hand. Shooters cannot use another part of their body to support the pistol. This makes balance and control important throughout the competition.
The individual course of fire consists of 60 shots. Competitors must complete the event within a maximum time of two hours. Their scores are calculated according to the accuracy of each shot.
The term “x” in a shooting score represents shots that hit the centre of the target’s highest-scoring area. These shots are counted separately as inner tens and can be important when competitors have equal total scores.

Why India’s Victory Matters
India’s gold medal at the 2026 ISSF World Championships is an important achievement for the country’s shooting community. The victory reflects the preparation and teamwork of Saurabh Chaudhary, Ravinder Singh and Amanpreet Singh.
Ravinder Singh’s individual silver medal made the result even more significant. It showed that Indian shooters performed well in both team and individual competitions.
The men’s 50m pistol is a non-Olympic event, but it remains an important discipline in international shooting. Success in this category requires technical skill, patience and the ability to perform under pressure.
India’s performance in Doha also brings attention to the country’s growing participation in international shooting events. Such achievements can encourage young athletes to take up the sport and work towards competing at national and international levels.
With the team gold and individual silver, India recorded a notable performance at the 2026 ISSF World Championships in Qatar.
