Selection of Border Villages Under VVP-II

The six villages included in the programme are Bobiya, Kadyala, Gajnal, Karol Krishna, Rathua, and Gujjar Chak. These villages are located near the International Border and often face challenges due to their remote location and security conditions. Their inclusion aims to improve access to basic facilities like roads, electricity, drinking water, healthcare, and education.

Administrative Push for Faster Development

The decision was finalised during a meeting led by Kathua Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma. He instructed all departments to ensure timely execution of projects with proper coordination. Regular monitoring has been emphasised so that development work reaches the ground without delays.

Kathua Border Villages in VVP-II: Strengthening Welfare Delivery

A key focus of the programme is to ensure that every eligible household receives government benefits. Officials have been directed to identify gaps through field visits and ensure full coverage of welfare schemes. Community participation is also being encouraged to make implementation more effective and transparent.

About Vibrant Village Programme-II

The Vibrant Village Programme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme designed to develop strategically important border villages. It focuses on improving infrastructure, promoting tourism, and creating livelihood opportunities in remote areas.

Strategic Importance of Border Development

The inclusion of Kathua border villages under VVP-II highlights the government’s focus on both development and national security. Strong infrastructure and better public services help reduce migration from border areas and support stable populations. This plays an important role in strengthening border security while ensuring equal growth opportunities for residents.
