The National Climate Stack is a digital platform that will bring together different climate datasets into one system. Right now, climate data is scattered across many platforms, making it hard to use effectively. This initiative aims to create a single, easy-to-use system that supports better decision-making.
Why This Challenge Matters
India is facing serious climate risks like floods, droughts, heatwaves, and cyclones. These events directly affect farming and rural livelihoods. Even though climate data is available, it is not well connected. The challenge aims to fix this gap and make climate information more useful for farmers, banks, and policymakers.

Focus on Climate Forecasting
A key part of the challenge is to build models that can predict climate hazards for the next 10–15 years. These models will help in early warning and better planning. Accurate forecasting can reduce damage and help rural communities prepare in advance.
Encouraging Innovation
The challenge invites startups, researchers, and institutions to create useful tools and dashboards. These tools can help in:
- Better crop planning
- Rural loan risk assessment
- Disaster preparedness
The idea is to turn complex climate data into simple and practical solutions.
Timeline and Process
The challenge started with an open call on March 6, 2026. After shortlisting, selected teams will work on their ideas during a guided phase. Final evaluation will happen between May and June 2026. Projects will be judged on quality, usability, and real-world impact.
NABARD Climate Stack Challenge Conclusion
The NABARD Climate Stack Challenge is an important step towards building a climate-smart rural India. By using technology and innovation, it aims to make climate data more powerful and useful for everyone.
