Improvement Over Previous Guinness Record
This achievement was not Sharma’s first record in limbo skating. She had previously set the Guinness World Record in 2023 during an attempt on the television show “Lo Show Dei Record” in Monza, Italy.
At that time, she completed the challenge in 9.59 seconds. In her latest attempt, Sharma improved the record by 2.13 seconds, marking a major improvement in performance. The remarkable progress reflects her continuous training, determination and commitment to mastering the sport.
Understanding the Sport of Limbo Skating
Limbo skating is a specialised roller skating discipline that demands extreme flexibility and balance. In this sport, skaters glide on roller skates while bending their bodies very low to pass under horizontal bars positioned close to the ground.
The sport is similar to the traditional limbo dance but adds the challenge of skating at speed. Athletes must keep their body almost parallel to the ground while maintaining balance and momentum, making it one of the most physically demanding forms of roller skating.
Inspiration for Young Athletes
The Shrishti Sharma Limbo Skating Record stands as an inspiring example of dedication and perseverance. Through years of disciplined practice, Sharma perfected the balance between speed and flexibility required for this challenging sport.
Her success is expected to motivate young athletes across India, especially girls, to pursue sports and aim for international achievements. Sharma’s record proves that with determination and hard work, athletes can achieve global recognition even in specialised sporting disciplines.
