Tamil Nadu Textile Export Growth has made the state India’s top textile exporter. In the financial year 2024–25, the state recorded exports worth USD 7,997.17 million. This shows a strong and steady increase in performance over recent years. The growth rate has crossed 29 percent in the last four years, helping Tamil Nadu move ahead of other major states.

The export value of textiles from Tamil Nadu was about USD 6,193 million in 2020–21. Since then, it has grown consistently and reached nearly USD 8 billion. This rise reflects better production, strong industry support and improved supply systems. Today, Tamil Nadu contributes around 21.84 percent of India’s total textile exports.

Ahead of Other Major States
Tamil Nadu has outperformed other leading textile-exporting states. Gujarat stands in second place with exports of USD 5,646.01 million, while Maharashtra is third with USD 3,831.29 million. The difference clearly shows Tamil Nadu’s strong position and its ability to stay ahead in the textile sector.

The success of Tamil Nadu Textile Export Growth is supported by strong policies and teamwork between the government and industry. The state has focused on building better infrastructure, improving worker skills and making export processes easier. India’s total textile exports reached about USD 36,610 million in 2024–25, with Tamil Nadu contributing the largest share.
