Important Notes on Duration

  • The total duration of the examination is 2 hours.
  • The exam will have sectional timing, meaning:
    • Part I: 30 minutes
    • Part II: 30 minutes
    • Part III: 60 minutes
  • For candidates eligible for a scribe, the total duration will be 2 hours and 40 minutes, distributed as:
    • Part I: 40 minutes
    • Part II: 40 minutes
    • Part III: 80 minutes

2. Skill Test in Stenography

Candidates who qualify in the Computer Based Examination will be required to appear for a Stenography Skill Test. During this test, a 10-minute dictation will be given in either English or Hindi, depending on the option selected by the candidate in the application form. The dictation speed will be 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for Grade ‘D’.

After the dictation, candidates must transcribe the passage on a computer within the specified time limit as prescribed by the Commission.
