India Defeats China in the Final

The Indian team produced a high-scoring performance in the gold-medal match. India finished with 238 points, while China scored 234.

The four-point difference gave India the gold after a competitive final. The Indian trio stayed consistent throughout the match and maintained their advantage over China during the decisive stages.

The 238-point score also equalled the existing world and Asian record for the women’s compound team event. South Korea had previously set the record at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

Semi-Final Victory Over South Korea

India entered the final after defeating South Korea in a closely contested semi-final. The Indian team won the match 234-233, securing its place in the gold-medal contest.

How Compound Archery Works

The 2026 gold was India’s second consecutive title after the team also won gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023. Before those two victories, India had won bronze in 2014 and silver in 2018.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam has been part of all four of India’s medal-winning women’s compound team campaigns at the Asian Games. Her continued presence has made her an important figure in India’s compound archery programme.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam has collected medals with India’s women’s compound team across four consecutive Asian Games editions.

She was part of the bronze-medal winning team at Incheon in 2014 and the silver-medal winning team at Jakarta-Palembang in 2018. India then moved to the top of the podium at Hangzhou in 2023 and successfully defended the title at Aichi-Nagoya in 2026.

The latest victory adds another major team achievement to Vennam’s international career. She has also won individual and mixed-team medals in major international competitions.
