SPREE-2025 Scheme: Encouraging Voluntary Registration

The ESIC Launches SPREE-2025 Scheme to promote the registration of both employers and employees who are not currently part of the ESIC network. SPREE-2025, which stands for Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees, is active until 31 December 2025. Industries and workers can register through multiple platforms, including the ESI Portal, Shram Suvidha Portal, and Company Affairs Portal. A key feature of the scheme is that no demand for past dues will be raised at the time of registration.

Employers who register under SPREE-2025 are deemed covered from the registration date or an earlier declared date. This ensures that newly registered employees begin receiving health and social security benefits immediately. By offering a smooth and non-punitive registration process, the scheme encourages industries to formalise their workforce and gain access to structured compliance mechanisms.

Focus on Voluntary Compliance

The ESIC Launches SPREE-2025 Scheme with a core focus on voluntary compliance rather than enforcement. The scheme is designed to reduce litigation between employers and employees by promoting trust and cooperation. Businesses can now avoid legal complications related to past dues, while employees gain assured access to benefits such as medical care, maternity leave, and other social security measures.

By simplifying the registration process, SPREE-2025 not only reduces the administrative burden on industries but also strengthens the overall social security framework. The initiative underscores ESIC’s approach to building a cooperative environment where compliance is incentivised rather than enforced.

AMNESTY Scheme-2025: Resolving Pending Disputes

Alongside SPREE-2025, ESIC has rolled out the AMNESTY Scheme-2025, operational from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. This scheme is a one-time initiative aimed at resolving pending disputes related to damages, interest, and ESI coverage. Employers can settle outstanding issues under this scheme, thereby improving compliance and reducing ongoing legal cases.

Dispute Resolution Mechanism

Under the AMNESTY Scheme-2025, regional directors are empowered to withdraw cases where contributions and interest have already been paid. Additionally, cases filed against insured persons over five years ago without proper notices can also be withdrawn. Notably, for the first time, disputes involving damages and interest related to coverage are eligible for resolution. These measures are expected to clear existing backlogs and streamline ESIC operations across the country.

Benefits for Industries and Employees

Industry representatives have welcomed the ESIC Launches SPREE-2025 Scheme as a step that simplifies compliance and reduces potential legal risks. For small and large enterprises alike, the scheme removes hurdles that often discourage formal registration.

Employees also stand to gain substantially from the scheme. By facilitating easy access to social security benefits, SPREE-2025 ensures that workers receive healthcare, maternity benefits, and other essential protections under the ESI Act. Together with the AMNESTY Scheme-2025, these initiatives contribute to a robust social security ecosystem that protects employees and supports employers.

Government’s Commitment to Labour Welfare

The introduction of SPREE-2025 and AMNESTY Scheme-2025 highlights the Government of India’s commitment to expanding social security coverage and enhancing ease of doing business. By formalising the workforce and streamlining compliance procedures, these initiatives align with broader objectives of improving labour welfare, reducing litigation, and ensuring uninterrupted benefits for employees.

With these steps, ESIC is reinforcing its role as a key institution in delivering social security benefits across India. The schemes are expected to bring thousands of unregistered workers under the ESI network and provide industries with a smoother pathway to compliance.

ESIC Launches SPREE-2025 Scheme to Strengthen Social Security Access

ESIC Launches SPREE-2025 Scheme

The ESIC Launches SPREE-2025 Scheme has been widely appreciated by stakeholders, including employers, employees, and industry bodies. By promoting voluntary registration and offering a structured dispute resolution mechanism, the ESIC initiatives are expected to create a more transparent, efficient, and inclusive social security framework. The scheme ensures that workers enjoy health and social security benefits without facing delays or disputes, while businesses can operate with greater confidence knowing that compliance is simplified.

In essence, the SPREE-2025 Scheme and AMNESTY Scheme-2025 together mark a transformative approach by ESIC to formalise the workforce, enhance labour welfare, and strengthen the overall social security system in India.
