Rising Demand and Easy Availability

GLP-1 drugs are becoming very popular due to their role in weight loss and diabetes control. However, officials have found that many people are buying these medicines without proper prescriptions. The availability of cheaper generic versions has made access even easier, raising concerns about quality and safe usage.

Health Risks and Prescription Rules

Experts warn that these drugs should only be used under medical supervision. They are meant to be prescribed by specialists like endocrinologists or internal medicine doctors. GLP-1 drugs work by controlling insulin levels, reducing appetite, and slowing digestion. Misuse can cause side effects such as nausea and dizziness, and in serious cases, conditions like pancreatitis, kidney damage, and thyroid cancer.
