Shaastra 2026 IIT Madras and Its Growing National Presence
Now in its 27th edition, Shaastra has steadily grown from a campus event into a national and international attraction. Speaking ahead of the festival, IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti explained that Shaastra 2026 will be part of a larger 15-day engagement period at the institute. This extended window also includes the IIT Madras Open House and Saarang, the institute’s well-known cultural festival.
This combined approach allows visitors to experience not just technology but also creativity, research and campus life. The aim is to make science and innovation more accessible to the public, students and aspiring professionals.
Shaastra 2026 IIT Madras to Launch Global Foundation

One of the major highlights of the opening ceremony will be the launch of the IIT Madras Global Foundation by S. Jaishankar. This new platform has been designed to strengthen the institute’s international connections and global presence.
The foundation will focus on several key areas, including sharing technologies with global partners, building strong links with universities and industries abroad, supporting start-ups linked to IIT Madras and encouraging international investment. Shaastra 2026 IIT Madras Highlights Academic and Teacher Outreach
