A Tournament of Unbeaten Brilliance

The Indian Blind Women’s team delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament. Led by Captain Deepika T. C. and Vice-Captain Ganga S. Kadam, the team remained unbeaten from start to finish. Each match reflected strong teamwork, discipline, and belief in their abilities.

The final match against Nepal, held in Colombo on 23 November 2025, was a perfect example of India’s dominance. The Indian bowlers restricted Nepal to a total of 114 runs for five wickets. The chase was calm yet aggressive, showing the team’s confidence. India reached the target in just 12.1 overs, winning the final by seven wickets and lifting the World title.

This commanding performance demonstrated not only skill but also mental toughness. Playing in a high-pressure final and delivering such a convincing victory is no small achievement, and the team’s composure impressed fans and experts alike.

Heroes Who Shone Bright

Several players stood out with exceptional performances during the tournament. Phula Saren was the star of the final, scoring a crucial 44 runs off just 27 balls. Her innings gave India the momentum needed to seal the victory, and she was rightly named Player of the Match.

Captain Deepika T. C. led from the front throughout the competition. One of her most memorable performances came against Australia, where she scored a brilliant 91 runs off 58 balls. Her consistency, leadership, and calm presence were key factors behind India’s unbeaten run.

Another inspiring performance came from Karuna Pangi Kumari, a Class 10 student from Visakhapatnam, who scored a composed 42 in the final. Balancing studies and international cricket is not easy, yet she managed both with confidence. Durga Yevle’s journey from a small-town background to representing India on the world stage also touched many hearts. Her story shows how talent can emerge from anywhere when supported and nurtured.

The Power of Support Systems

Behind every successful team is a strong support system, and the Indian Blind Women’s team is no exception. Coaches, trainers, and members of the Blind Association have played a crucial role in guiding the players, providing technical training, and offering emotional support.

At the ceremony, representatives of these organisations were also acknowledged for their dedication. Their efforts have helped create an environment where visually impaired athletes can train professionally and compete internationally. The success of the team reflects years of hard work by everyone involved, both on and off the field.

Linking Sports with Broader Development

The honouring of the Blind Women’s T20 Champions came at a time when Delhi’s leadership is focusing on inclusive development. Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta delivered her first Republic Day address at Chhatrasal Stadium, where she spoke about achievements in healthcare, transport, education, pollution control, and ease of doing business.

She also shared her vision of rebuilding Delhi as an economic nerve centre while aligning the city’s growth with the national goal of a “Viksit Bharat.” According to her, progress must include every section of society, including women and persons with disabilities. The success of the Blind Women’s cricket team fits perfectly into this vision, showing what is possible when inclusion becomes a priority.

A Journey That Inspires the Nation

The story of the Indian Blind Women’s T20 team is about much more than a trophy. It is about believing in oneself, pushing beyond limitations, and proving that ability matters more than disability. Their journey has inspired countless young people across the country who may be facing their own challenges.

As they were honoured in Delhi, the smiles on their faces reflected pride, gratitude, and hope. They have not only won a World title but also won hearts. Their achievement will continue to inspire future generations to dream big and work hard, no matter the obstacles in their path.
