Defence Contracts 858 Crore Strengthen Air Defence

A major part of the deal includes a Rs 445 crore contract with JSC Rosoboronexport for the supply of Tunguska Air Defence Missile Systems. These systems are designed to protect against threats like aircraft, drones, and cruise missiles.

The addition of these advanced systems will improve India’s air defence network and make it more capable of handling modern threats. It also shows the continued defence cooperation between India and Russia.

Another key agreement is a Rs 413 crore contract with Boeing India Defense Private Ltd. This contract is for depot-level inspection of P-8I maritime aircraft used by the Indian Navy.

The P-8I aircraft play an important role in maritime surveillance and anti-submarine warfare. Regular maintenance will ensure these aircraft remain ready for operations and perform efficiently.

Defence Contracts 858 Crore Boost Aatmanirbhar Bharat

This project supports the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. The maintenance of P-8I aircraft will now be done within India through local MRO facilities.

This move will reduce dependence on foreign services, create job opportunities, and build strong domestic defence infrastructure. It also improves long-term sustainability of defence assets.
