The Defence Tank Deals ₹975 Cr focuses on adding special equipment called TRAWL assemblies to tanks. These systems help tanks safely move across dangerous minefields filled with anti-tank mines. It ensures that soldiers and vehicles can advance without heavy risk during operations.
What Is TRAWL Assembly?
TRAWL assembly is an advanced system designed to clear mines from the path of tanks. It is developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). This system can detect and neutralise mines, including those with magnetic triggers. By doing this, it creates a safe path for other vehicles to follow during combat situations.

Companies Behind Defence Tank Deals ₹975 Cr
The contracts have been signed with Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and Electro Pneumatics and Hydraulics (India) Pvt Ltd. Both companies will play a key role in manufacturing and supplying the equipment. The agreement shows strong cooperation between public and private sectors in defence production.
Push for Self-Reliance
The Defence Tank Deals ₹975 Cr supports India’s goal of becoming self-reliant in defence manufacturing. The project comes under the “Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)” category. This means the systems are designed and made within the country, reducing the need for imports and strengthening national security.
Employment and Industry Growth
This project is also expected to create jobs and support small industries. Many components will be produced by MSMEs, helping them become part of the defence supply chain. It will boost local manufacturing and provide economic benefits beyond the defence sector.
