Emerging Science Conclave: India’s First ESTIC to Showcase Cutting-Edge Innovations
Emerging Science Conclave marks a historic milestone in India’s scientific landscape as the Department of Science and Technology (DST) gears up to host the first-ever Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) in November 2025. The conclave is expected to redefine the nation’s approach to scientific gatherings, bringing together top scientists, innovators, and technologists from India and around the world to discuss the latest research breakthroughs.

The Indian Science Congress (ISC), established before India gained independence, has long been the country’s premier scientific congregation. Traditionally held in January, the ISC attracted participation from Prime Ministers, Nobel Laureates, and distinguished researchers. However, in recent years, the ISC has faced challenges. The event was not held in 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2023, the Prime Minister could only attend virtually. Further, disagreements between the DST and the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) led to the cancellation of ISC in 2024 and 2025. DST has since withdrawn funding from ISCA, highlighting the need for a modern, more inclusive scientific platform.
Complementing India International Science Festival
Since 2015, the India International Science Festival (IISF) has served as a platform to popularise science among students and youth. Organised jointly by government science departments and Vijnana Bharti, IISF primarily focuses on public engagement rather than advanced scientific discourse. While it has a festive atmosphere, IISF lacks participation from international Nobel Laureates and does not always host the Prime Minister in person. The Emerging Science Conclave, on the other hand, aims to combine scientific rigor with global collaboration, bridging the gap between public engagement and advanced research dialogues.
Emerging Science Conclave: Structure and Key Highlights
The first Emerging Science Conclave is scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam from 3 to 4 November 2025. The event will involve all science-related ministries, including atomic energy, space, and information technology. Participants can expect 11 thematic technical sessions covering areas such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, renewable energy, and quantum technologies. In addition, 75 exhibition stalls will showcase innovations from deep-tech start-ups, providing a platform for entrepreneurs to demonstrate India’s cutting-edge research capabilities.
International participation is a key highlight of ESTIC. Nobel Laureate Andre Geim, former French Space Agency head Jean-Yves Le Gall, and Professor Masaru Tomita from Japan are expected to attend, reflecting India’s commitment to global scientific collaboration.
Vision for India’s Scientific Leadership

The Emerging Science Conclave is envisioned as a modern replacement for the traditional ISC, designed to elevate India’s position in global science and innovation. Science Minister Jitendra Singh has described ESTIC as a platform to ignite a new era of scientific leadership aimed at achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. By encouraging dialogue between scientists, innovators, and policymakers, ESTIC seeks to foster deep-tech research, international collaboration, and a vibrant culture of innovation.
Emerging Science Conclave: Promoting Innovation and Deep-Tech Start-Ups
One of the unique features of the Emerging Science Conclave is its focus on start-ups and entrepreneurial innovation. The 75 exhibition stalls by deep-tech start-ups will allow young entrepreneurs to present technologies ranging from next-generation robotics to advanced materials and renewable energy solutions. By facilitating networking between innovators and established scientists, ESTIC aims to create synergies that drive India’s science and technology sector forward.
Global Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
International engagement is central to the Emerging Science Conclave. The participation of global leaders in science and technology ensures that India remains aligned with cutting-edge global research. The conclave will provide opportunities for knowledge sharing, joint research initiatives, and international collaborations, fostering a culture where Indian scientists and technologists can exchange ideas with their global counterparts.
A Step Towards Viksit Bharat 2047
Through the Emerging Science Conclave, India seeks to demonstrate its capability to lead in research, innovation, and technological advancement. By integrating scientific rigor, international collaboration, and public engagement, ESTIC is positioned as a transformative platform that will shape India’s scientific journey over the coming decades. This conclave underscores the nation’s commitment to fostering a robust ecosystem for research and innovation, ensuring that India is at the forefront of global scientific developments.
The Emerging Science Conclave is more than a scientific gathering; it is a declaration of India’s ambitions and a celebration of its growing scientific prowess. By bringing together the brightest minds from India and the world, ESTIC promises to be a landmark event that sets the tone for a new era in India’s scientific history.
