Modi Launches ₹16450 Cr South Projects as Narendra Modi visits Kerala and Tamil Nadu on March 11, 2026. During this visit, he will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay foundation stones for several big development projects. These projects are worth more than ₹16,450 crore and aim to improve infrastructure and connectivity in both states.

Major Projects in Kerala
In Kerala, projects worth around ₹10,800 crore will be launched. One of the most important projects is a new Polypropylene Unit at the Kochi Refinery of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. This project costs over ₹5,500 crore.
This unit will help produce materials used in packaging, textiles, medical items, and vehicles. It will also support local industries and reduce imports.

Highway and Railway Development
Two major highway projects will be opened. The six-lane Thalapady–Chengala section of NH-66 will improve road travel between Kerala and Karnataka. Another key project is the Kozhikode Bypass, which will reduce traffic and travel time.
In the railway sector, three stations Shoranur Junction, Kuttippuram, and Changanassery will be upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. A railway electrification project and a new train between Palakkad and Pollachi will also be launched to improve travel between states.
Modi Launches ₹16450 Cr South Projects in Tamil Nadu
In Tiruchirappalli, projects worth about ₹5,650 crore will be launched. A major project is the City Gas Distribution Network by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited in The Nilgiris and Erode districts.
This project will provide gas connections to over 8.8 lakh homes and set up more than 200 CNG stations, making clean energy more accessible.
Energy and Rural Development
The Prime Minister will also dedicate a Lube Blending Plant of Indian Oil Corporation in Manali, Chennai. This plant will boost lubricant production in India.
In addition, rural road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana will improve village connectivity. New train services, including Amrit Bharat Express, will also be introduced to improve railway links across regions.
