MoSPI PAIMANA Portal Launch Strengthens Monitoring of India’s Mega Infrastructure Projects

MoSPI PAIMANA Portal Launch boosts digital monitoring of India’s mega infrastructure projects with real-time data, automation, and better transparency

MoSPI PAIMANA Portal Launch marks an important step in India’s journey towards smarter and more transparent infrastructure management. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has operationalised a new web-based platform called PAIMANA, which stands for Project Assessment, Infrastructure Monitoring and Analytics for Nation-building. This digital system is designed to monitor Central Sector Infrastructure Projects with a cost of ₹150 crore and above, replacing the older OCMS-2006 system that had been in use for several years.

The launch of PAIMANA reflects the government’s focus on modernising project monitoring through technology, real-time data, and integrated systems. With large-scale infrastructure playing a crucial role in India’s economic growth, this portal is expected to significantly improve planning, execution, and oversight.

A Modern Digital Platform for Infrastructure Tracking

PAIMANA has been built as a comprehensive digital platform that brings together data from multiple ministries and departments onto a single interface. Its main objective is to provide a clear and updated picture of how major infrastructure projects are progressing across the country.

Unlike older systems that relied heavily on manual data entry, PAIMANA follows the principle of “one data, one entry.” This means that information is entered only once at the source and then shared automatically across connected systems. This reduces duplication, saves time, and minimises errors.

The portal has been integrated with the Integrated Project Monitoring Portal of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade using APIs. Through this integration, project data flows directly from central ministries into PAIMANA, ensuring consistency and reliability.

Reduced Manual Work and Better Data Accuracy

One of the biggest advantages of the new system is automation. Around 60 per cent of the projects currently on PAIMANA are updated automatically. This reduces the burden on officials who earlier had to enter the same data into multiple systems.

Automation also improves the quality of information. Since data is drawn directly from source systems, it becomes more standardised and accurate. This helps policymakers and senior officials make better decisions based on reliable numbers rather than delayed or incomplete reports.

The MoSPI PAIMANA Portal Launch therefore represents not just a technical upgrade, but also a shift towards data-driven governance.

Large Scale of Projects Under Monitoring

As of December 2025, PAIMANA is tracking 1,392 ongoing infrastructure projects with a combined revised cost of ₹35.10 lakh crore. These projects span 17 Central Ministries and Departments, showing the wide reach of the platform.

Cumulative expenditure on these projects has reached ₹19.01 lakh crore, which is about 54.1 per cent of the total revised cost. This indicates that more than half of the planned investment has already been spent.

Progress data shows encouraging trends. Nearly one-third of the projects have achieved over 80 per cent physical completion. Around 16 per cent of projects have also crossed 80 per cent financial completion. This suggests that a substantial number of projects are nearing their final stages.

Transport and Logistics Lead the Way

Among different sectors, Transport and Logistics dominate the infrastructure landscape. This sector alone accounts for 896 projects with a revised cost of ₹17.70 lakh crore. The large share reflects India’s emphasis on improving roads, highways, ports, and logistics networks.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has the highest number of projects, highlighting its central role in national infrastructure development. On the other hand, the Ministry of Railways commands the largest share of total project cost, underlining the massive scale of railway expansion and modernisation.

Energy is the second-largest sector under PAIMANA, followed by communication, water and sanitation, and social infrastructure. Together, these sectors represent a balanced approach that combines connectivity, energy security, and public welfare.

Completed Projects and New Additions

December 2025 saw 17 projects reporting 100 per cent physical completion. These include major power and renewable energy projects, which contribute to India’s clean energy goals.

In the same month, 20 newly sanctioned projects entered the under-implementation stage and were onboarded onto PAIMANA. These new projects cover diverse areas such as railways, urban transport, health, coal, and civil aviation.

By continuously adding new projects and updating existing ones, PAIMANA is evolving into a centralised national repository of infrastructure information.

Strengthening Evidence-Based Decision Making

The MoSPI PAIMANA Portal Launch strengthens the government’s ability to track delays, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective action in a timely manner. With real-time dashboards and analytics, officials can quickly see which projects are on track and which need attention.

This transparency also supports better coordination between ministries and promotes accountability. Over time, PAIMANA is expected to play a key role in ensuring that large public investments translate into timely and high-quality infrastructure outcomes for the nation.

Through this digital initiative, India is taking another step towards building a smarter, more efficient, and data-driven governance ecosystem that supports long-term development.
