MYAS Internship Policy to Build a Strong Sports Workforce
The MYAS Internship Policy has been launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to strengthen India’s sports ecosystem in a planned and practical way. The initiative creates a large, structured platform for young people who wish to work behind the scenes of Indian sports. It focuses on offering real-world exposure to students while helping sports institutions develop skilled, dedicated, and future-ready professionals.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The MYAS Internship Policy is designed to bridge the gap between education and hands-on experience. It allows young minds to learn how sports organisations function, how events are planned and managed, and how athletes receive support at different stages of their careers. Through this approach, the ministry aims to build a strong talent pool that can contribute to India’s long-term sports ambitions in a professional and organised manner.
A Clear Internship Framework Across Sports Bodies
Under this new policy, MYAS will offer 452 internships every year across the ministry and its key institutions. These include the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), and the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL). The internships are open to college and university students from different academic backgrounds.
Participants will get hands-on exposure to sports administration, governance, sports science, event planning, anti-doping work, and athlete support systems. Instead of classroom learning, interns will observe and assist in real projects, helping them understand how decisions are made and how policies are implemented in the sports sector.
Giving Youth a Real Role in India’s Sports Growth
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted that young people are the backbone of India’s sporting future. He said that for sports to grow in a strong and fair manner, trained professionals and strong institutions are essential.
Through this internship programme, youth will not just observe but actively contribute to the system. They will work with experienced officials, learn daily operations, and understand the challenges faced by sports bodies. This practical exposure helps students build confidence, skills, and a sense of responsibility towards nation-building through sports.
Supporting India’s Long-Term Sports Vision

The MYAS Internship Policy is closely linked with India’s broader sports roadmap, including the National Sports Policy and Khelo Bharat Niti 2025. The focus is on improving skills, professionalism, and efficiency in sports administration.
Interns will also get exposure to major national programmes such as Khelo India, the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), and the Target Asian Games Group (TAGG). Many internships will involve work at SAI stadiums, regional centres, and national centres of excellence, giving students a ground-level view of how athletes train and prepare for competitions.
Wide Range of Learning Areas for Interns
The internship programme covers more than 20 functional areas. These include sports management, sports science, legal work, information technology, media and communication, international sports coordination, and anti-doping operations. There is special focus on scientific research, lab testing, and data-based athlete support, which are becoming increasingly important in modern sports.
By working in these areas, interns will learn how technology, research, and governance come together to support athletes and maintain fair play. This also helps promote clean sports practices and transparent systems.
MYAS Internship Policy: Transparent Selection and Long-Term Impact
The selection process will be conducted twice a year through a central online portal. This ensures fairness, transparency, and merit-based selection. Students from different parts of the country will get equal opportunities to apply and participate.
In the long run, the MYAS Internship Policy aims to create a skilled workforce that can support India’s growing sports infrastructure and global presence. By training young professionals today, the programme lays the foundation for a more organised, clean, and competitive sports ecosystem tomorrow.
