One of the main highlights of RBI Payments Vision 2028 is the switch on/off facility for digital payments. This feature is already available for debit and credit cards, but now it will be expanded to all digital payment methods.
With this, users can control where and how their money is used. They can enable or disable transactions for domestic or international use. This will help reduce fraud and give users better control over their financial activities.

RBI Payments Vision 2028 and Payments Switching Service (PaSS)
Another key step under RBI Payments Vision 2028 is the introduction of the Payments Switching Service (PaSS). This system will help customers easily transfer their payment instructions when they change banks or when banks merge.
Users will be able to see all their linked payment systems and move them fully or partially. This will make banking more convenient and improve competition among banks.
RBI Payments Vision 2028 and Fraud Protection Measures
The RBI Payments Vision 2028 also focuses strongly on reducing fraud. A new Shared Responsibility Framework is being considered for unauthorised transactions.
In this system, both the issuing bank and the receiving bank will share responsibility if fraud happens. At present, only the issuing bank is responsible. This change will encourage banks to improve their fraud detection systems and work together more closely.

RBI Payments Vision 2028 and Digital Cheques System
The RBI is also planning to introduce electronic cheques as part of RBI Payments Vision 2028. These digital cheques will improve security and reduce the need for physical paperwork.
Along with this, better connection between platforms like Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) will be developed. This will support small businesses and make financial processes smoother and faster.
