Skeet Bronze medals gave India another strong result in shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, as both the men’s and women’s teams finished third in their respective team events on September 23. India’s men’s team secured bronze after beating Kazakhstan in a shoot-off, while the women’s team also finished third. The results added two more medals to India’s shooting campaign at the Games.

India’s Men’s Skeet Team Wins Bronze

The Indian men’s skeet team featured Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill. The trio finished with a combined score of 346, the same total as Kazakhstan. As both teams were level, the bronze medal was decided through a shoot-off.

India won the shoot-off and secured third place. Naruka contributed 119 hits, while Mairaj recorded 116. Bhavtegh also played an important role in helping India reach the medal position. Qatar won the men’s team gold, while Kazakhstan took silver.

The medal was another important result for India’s shooting team, which has been collecting medals across different events during the ongoing Asian Games.

Women’s Team Makes Asian Games History

India’s women’s skeet team consisted of Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan. The team recorded 331 hits across the qualification rounds and finished with the bronze medal.

China won the women’s team gold with 346, while Kazakhstan took silver with 336. India’s bronze was particularly significant because it was the first Asian Games medal for India in the women’s team skeet event.

Raiza and Parinaaz also competed in the individual event, but neither was able to add another medal. The team result, however, gave India a historic achievement in women’s skeet shooting.

What Is Skeet Shooting?

Skeet is a shotgun shooting discipline in which athletes fire at clay targets launched into the air from different stations. The targets travel across the shooting area, requiring athletes to react quickly and maintain accuracy.

Skeet competitions can be held in individual and team formats. In team events, the performances of the three members are combined to decide the final team result. The discipline is part of international shooting competitions and has also featured at the Olympic Games and Asian Games.

Anantjeet Naruka Reaches the Individual Final

Along with the team medal, Anantjeet Singh Naruka also competed in the men’s individual skeet event. His qualification performance earned him a place in the individual final.

The Indian shooter has become one of the country’s leading skeet competitors and has represented India at major international events. His appearance in the individual final added another opportunity for India at the shooting range during the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

The September 23 shooting programme also featured India’s Manu Bhaker in the women’s 10m air pistol final. Bhaker finished fifth, missing out on a medal in that event.

Shooting Remains a Major Medal Sport for India

The two skeet bronzes came after India had already collected several medals in shooting at the 2026 Asian Games. Earlier in the Games, Elavenil Valarivan won two silver medals in the women’s 10m air rifle events, while Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Patil also won individual medals in the men’s 10m air rifle event.

India’s shooting campaign continued to add medals on September 24. Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal won bronze in the mixed team skeet event, giving India another shooting medal. China won gold with a world-record score of 52, while South Korea took silver with 51. India scored 44.

With the mixed-team result, shooting became an even larger contributor to India’s medal tally at the ongoing Asian Games. The Aichi-Nagoya Games are continuing in Japan, with competition scheduled through October 4, giving Indian athletes more opportunities across several sports.

India’s Growing Skeet Presence

The performances of Naruka, Mairaj, Bhavtegh, Parinaaz, Raiza and Maheshwari have brought greater attention to India’s skeet shooting programme. The women’s team bronze also marks an important step for Indian women shooters in a team event that has produced strong competition from countries such as China and Kazakhstan.

The three Indian teams that won medals in the men’s, women’s and mixed team skeet events have shown how team shooting can produce medal opportunities alongside individual competitions. As the Asian Games continue, Indian shooters will remain involved in several events at the shooting range in Aichi-Nagoya.
