The programme was attended by Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh, and NITI Aayog Member Dr. V.K. Institutional Framework for Innovation
Under the Tripura State Innovation Mission, the state will establish an institutional system through the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT). This body will guide the innovation strategy and coordinate efforts to promote research, entrepreneurship, and technology-based development across the state.
A major highlight of the mission is the launch of T-NEST (Tripura – Nurturing Entrepreneurship and Startups), a dedicated incubation centre designed to support startups and new business ideas. The centre aims to encourage local innovators to develop “Make from Tripura” solutions that can address regional challenges and create economic opportunities.

Innovation Centres Across Districts
To ensure wider participation, innovation centres will be established in all eight districts of Tripura. These centres will be connected with T-NEST and will provide support to budding entrepreneurs, innovators, and startups.
Special attention will be given to encouraging women and tribal communities to take part in entrepreneurship activities. This approach aims to ensure inclusive growth and equal opportunities across different regions of the state.
District Innovator Fellowship Initiative
Another key feature of the Tripura State Innovation Mission is the launch of the District Innovator Fellowship (DIF). The fellowship programme will identify grassroots innovators and provide them with structured support to develop and scale their ideas.
Through mentorship, training, and financial assistance, the programme will help innovators convert creative ideas into practical solutions that can benefit society and local economies.
Focus on Artificial Intelligence and Future Technologies
Tripura has also announced plans to introduce a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy. The policy will focus on responsible and inclusive AI development while encouraging technology-based governance.
In addition, the state government has proposed setting up an AI City in Agartala with support from global technology partners. The project aims to transform the capital city into a hub for innovation, digital governance, and advanced technologies.

Strengthening the State Innovation Ecosystem
The Tripura State Innovation Mission will help the state government work closely with NITI Aayog to create a long-term innovation strategy. The mission focuses on capacity building, policy support, partnerships, and access to mentorship and funding for startups.
The initiative also aims to promote innovation education from the school level and build a strong support system for entrepreneurs. By bringing together government institutions, industry, academia, and civil society, the mission aims to create a vibrant innovation ecosystem in Tripura.
