Sanand in Gujarat is quickly emerging as a key center for semiconductor production. The newly launched facility has already started manufacturing, showing rapid progress in India’s chip sector. This comes soon after another major semiconductor unit began operations in the same region, highlighting strong growth momentum.

Focus on Intelligent Power Modules
The Kaynes Technology plant will produce Intelligent Power Modules, which are important for electric vehicles and industrial use. These components help improve energy efficiency and performance. A large share of the production will be exported, helping India become part of global semiconductor supply chains.
India Semiconductor Mission Driving Growth
India’s semiconductor push is supported by the India Semiconductor Mission. Under this mission, about 10 major projects worth over ₹1.6 lakh crore are being developed across six states. The aim is to reduce dependence on imports and make India a reliable global supplier of chips.

India Chip Ecosystem Boost Future Growth
India’s semiconductor market is currently valued at around $50 billion and is expected to cross $100 billion by the end of this decade. The government is also working on building local capabilities in chip design and raw materials through initiatives like the Dhruv 64 microprocessor. Training skilled workers in this sector is another key focus, which will support industries like electronics, clean energy, and electric vehicles.
