The India First Quantum Testbeds include two systems named 1S and 1Q. These testbeds will be launched at SRM University AP and Medha Towers near Vijayawada. This is the first dedicated infrastructure in India built to test and validate quantum technologies within the country.
The initiative places Andhra Pradesh at the front of India’s growing quantum research and innovation sector.
India First Quantum Testbeds and Advanced Technology
The 1S system is based on superconducting technology, which is widely used in quantum computing. Both systems operate at temperatures close to absolute zero, around -273°C. These extremely low temperatures help maintain quantum coherence and improve accuracy.
The India First Quantum Testbeds will support early-stage experiments and help researchers test quantum components in a controlled environment.

India First Quantum Testbeds to Support Research and Startups
The new facilities will be accessible to students, researchers, and startups. This will provide hands-on opportunities in quantum computing and encourage domestic innovation.
The India First Quantum Testbeds are also expected to reduce dependence on foreign infrastructure. The project can boost cooperation among universities, industries, and government institutions.
India First Quantum Testbeds and National Quantum Mission
India is promoting quantum research through the National Quantum Mission. The launch of these testbeds supports that larger goal.
Quantum computing uses concepts like superposition and entanglement. Superconducting qubits are among the most important technologies in this field. With the India First Quantum Testbeds, India takes a practical step toward building stronger quantum capabilities.
India First Quantum Testbeds Support Amaravati Quantum Vision
The project is part of a larger plan to develop Amaravati as a “Quantum Valley.” It aims to attract investment, researchers, and global talent.
Institutions such as Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Indian Institute of Science, and DRDO have supported the effort. The India First Quantum Testbeds could help place Amaravati on the global map as a new hub for quantum innovation.
