Karnataka Grameena Bank Award for SHG Excellence
Karnataka Grameena Bank has received the prestigious Karnataka Grameena Bank Award for its outstanding performance in the Self-Help Group (SHG) Bank Linkage programme for 2024–25. The honour was given by the Union Ministry of Rural Development, recognizing the bank’s strong role in improving rural livelihoods and financial inclusion.

The Karnataka Grameena Bank Award was presented during the National Conference on Financial Literacy and Capacity Building held in Hyderabad. The event also marked the 25th Central Level Coordination Committee meeting. This recognition highlights the bank’s continued efforts to support rural communities through better banking access and financial education.

Role in SHG-Bank Linkage Programme
Karnataka Grameena Bank has made a major impact in strengthening the SHG-Bank linkage programme. It has provided credit worth ₹2,835 crore to more than 80,904 self-help groups. These groups, mainly led by women, benefit from easier access to loans, helping them start small businesses and improve their income. The Karnataka Grameena Bank Award reflects this important contribution to grassroots development.
Support to Rural Development Mission
The bank’s work is closely linked with the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission. This mission focuses on reducing poverty by promoting self-employment and community-based institutions. By supporting SHGs, the bank helps strengthen rural economies and improve living standards.
