The Karnataka Advanced Attendance Management System (KAAMS), also known as the Kartavya-KAAMS App, is a mobile-based attendance monitoring platform. It has been introduced through a government circular issued on 27 April 2026.
The system is designed for permanent teachers, Head Masters, officers, and non-teaching staff working in government educational institutions and offices in Karnataka.
Features of Kartavya-KAAMS App
The Kartavya-KAAMS App uses advanced technologies to verify attendance and prevent misuse. Some major features include:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Facial Recognition Technology
- Geo-Fencing for location tracking
- Mobile-based attendance marking
- HRMS-linked employee verification
Employees must register using official details and verify their mobile numbers linked with the Human Resource Management System (HRMS). Users also need to complete face authentication and enable location access on their devices.
Attendance Process Under the New System
The Kartavya-KAAMS App requires employees to mark attendance two times daily from their authorised workplace.
- “In Time” attendance must be recorded after reaching the institution.
- “Out Time” attendance must be marked before leaving the workplace.
The system will be implemented from the academic year 2026-27. Karnataka government departments, boards, and corporations started replacing the old biometric attendance system from 1 May 2026.

Integration with Government Systems
The Kartavya-KAAMS App is connected with important government databases for better management and monitoring.
The application links attendance data with:
- Human Resource Management System (HRMS)
- Students Achievement Tracking System (SATS)
The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (e-Governance) developed the app. Before statewide implementation, the system was tested in departments such as health, education, and the Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
Large-Scale Administrative Coverage
The Kartavya-KAAMS App is expected to cover more than 20 lakh government employees and contractual workers in Karnataka.
The attendance framework includes:
- Teaching staff
- Non-teaching staff
- Government officers
- Educational institution employees
The initiative is considered an important step toward digital governance and better workforce management in Karnataka.
