The report highlights that Pakistan is followed by Bangladesh and Tajikistan as the most polluted countries. Other countries in the top five include Chad and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. India’s sixth rank shows that air pollution is still a major issue despite efforts to improve it.
In comparison, countries like the United States and the United Kingdom have much better air quality, ranking much lower on the pollution list.
How the Data Was Collected
The report was released by IQAir. It used data from over 40,000 air quality monitoring stations across 143 countries. These stations include government systems, research groups, private sensors, and even citizen-led efforts.
The study mainly looks at PM2.5 levels. These are very small particles in the air that can enter the lungs and cause serious health problems.

Health and Environmental Impact
Air pollution is becoming a major health crisis worldwide. According to the report, about 91% of countries exceed safe air limits set by the World Health Organization.
Pollution is especially dangerous for children, as it can affect their lungs and overall development. Rising industrial emissions and wildfires are also making the situation worse.
Key Concerns Going Forward
Only a small number of countries meet safe air quality standards. This shows that stronger action is needed globally. Governments must focus on cleaner energy, better regulations, and public awareness to reduce pollution levels.
