The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is India’s first indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter jet programme. The project is being developed with the support of the Defence Research and Development Organisation and the Aeronautical Development Agency.
The AMCA fighter jet is designed with advanced stealth features, modern avionics, and strong combat capabilities. It will help strengthen India’s air defence system and reduce dependence on foreign fighter aircraft.
AMCA Project Foundation Stone Boosts Defence Sector
The AMCA Project Foundation Stone ceremony marks a major milestone for India’s defence manufacturing industry. The project is expected to create around 7,500 direct high-skilled jobs in aerospace and engineering sectors.
The programme entered the prototype development stage after approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security in March 2024. The new infrastructure will support testing, research, and manufacturing activities for the fighter jet programme.

Defence and Aerospace Projects in Andhra Pradesh
Along with the AMCA project, several defence and aerospace manufacturing projects were also launched in Andhra Pradesh. Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for a new Naval Systems Manufacturing Facility of Bharat Dynamics Limited at T Sirasapalli village in Anakapalli district.
These projects are expected to improve India’s defence production capabilities and support the government’s Make in India mission.
Technology Showcase at the Event
An exhibition and technology showcase were also organised during the event. The showcase included scale models of the AMCA fighter jet, mission simulations, and avionics displays.
The exhibition highlighted India’s growing capabilities in defence technology, drone systems, and aerospace innovation. Experts believe the AMCA programme will play an important role in making India a global defence manufacturing hub.
