Cambridge Teacher Awards 2026: Indian Teacher Wins South Asia Honour

Cambridge Teacher Awards 2026 honours Indian teacher Soma Mandal for climate-focused education and student engagement.

Cambridge Teacher Awards 2026 brought proud news for India as Soma Mandal, a science teacher from GD Goenka Public School, Delhi, won the South Asia regional title. She received the honour during the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards 2026 held on 6 and 7 May 2026.

The award is presented by the International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment. It recognises teachers who make a positive impact on students and education.

What is Cambridge Teacher Awards 2026?

The Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards celebrate outstanding teachers from different countries and regions. In the 2026 edition, more than 12,000 nominations were received from 126 countries around the world.

From these entries, nine regional winners were selected globally for their excellent contribution to education and student development.

Soma Mandal’s Contribution to Education

Soma Mandal was recognised for creating a climate-focused curriculum in her school. She encouraged students to learn about environmental challenges and climate change through practical activities and awareness programmes.

Her teaching methods helped students become more active in environmental discussions and projects. This effort made her stand out among thousands of nominations in the Cambridge Teacher Awards 2026.

Rewards and Recognition

As a regional winner, Soma Mandal will receive books worth £500 for her classroom along with a special trophy. Her school will also receive international publicity through the award programme.

Another major honour is that her name will appear on a special “Thank You” page in new Cambridge textbooks that are scheduled to release in November 2026.

Global Winner Announcement

Public voting for the global winner of the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards 2026 will continue until 13 May 2026 at 13:30 IST.

The final global winner will be officially announced on 2 June 2026. The competition highlights the important role teachers play in shaping students and society.
