This year’s convention carries the theme “India’s Media Moment: Creating Value in an Age of Infinite Content.” The event focuses on the rapid changes taking place across television, films, streaming, sports, gaming, live events and digital content. Artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and the growing creator economy are also important parts of the two-day programme.

FICCI FRAMES 2026 Focuses on a Changing Media Industry

FICCI FRAMES 2026 is organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for the media and entertainment sector. The annual event provides a platform for industry leaders, creators, broadcasters, producers and technology companies to discuss new opportunities and changes in the content business.

The media industry has changed rapidly with the growth of streaming platforms, social media and digital creators. Audiences now have access to a large amount of content across different platforms. This has increased the need for new ideas, better technology and business models that can create value from digital content.

The 2026 edition is addressing these developments through discussions involving traditional media as well as newer digital platforms.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Addresses Event

Union Minister of Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addressed the inaugural session of FICCI FRAMES 2026 on 29 September. His participation highlights the wider importance of the media, entertainment and creative sectors in India.

Several senior industry figures also participated in the opening session. These included FICCI President Anant Goenka, Kevin Vaz, Chair of the FICCI Media & Entertainment Committee and CEO of Entertainment at JioStar, and actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who is associated with FICCI FRAMES as its ambassador.

The participation of government representatives, industry executives and creative professionals gives the convention a broad focus covering policy, business, technology and content creation.

Uday Shankar Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

One of the major moments of FICCI FRAMES 2026 was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Uday Shankar on 29 September.

Uday Shankar is the Vice Chairman of JioStar and a former President of FICCI. The award recognises his contribution to India’s media and entertainment industry.

His career has included senior roles in the media sector, and his work has been associated with the development of television and digital media in India. The Lifetime Achievement Award at FICCI FRAMES highlights the contribution of experienced industry leaders to the growth of the sector.

Creator Economy Gets Major Attention

The creator economy is one of the important topics at FICCI FRAMES 2026. Digital platforms have created new opportunities for individual creators, influencers, filmmakers, musicians and other professionals to reach audiences directly.

Creators can now produce content for video platforms, social media and streaming services without depending only on traditional media companies. This has changed how content is produced, promoted and consumed.

Sessions at the convention are examining how creators and media companies can work together and how the creator economy can develop further as digital audiences continue to grow.

Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology

Artificial intelligence is another major focus of FICCI FRAMES 2026. AI is increasingly being used across the media industry for content production, editing, animation, recommendations and other activities.

The convention is discussing how emerging technologies can affect the future of entertainment. AI-powered tools are changing production processes and creating new possibilities in areas such as visual effects, animation and digital storytelling.

At the same time, the growing use of AI is creating new questions about creativity, ownership, content quality and the relationship between technology and human creators. These developments are making technology an important part of discussions within the media industry.

FICCI BAF Awards to Highlight Creative Technology

The FICCI BAF Awards are also scheduled as part of the event. The awards cover several areas of the creative technology industry, including animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, extended reality and artificial intelligence.

These sectors have become increasingly connected with films, television, advertising, gaming and digital entertainment. Advances in computer graphics, animation and immersive technology are allowing creators to develop new forms of entertainment.

The awards provide a platform for work across these areas and reflect the expanding role of technology in the creative industries.

Frame Your Idea Connects Writers and Producers

Another major initiative under FICCI FRAMES 2026 is Frame Your Idea (FYI). It works as a writer-to-producer pitching platform and aims to connect writers with producers who are looking for new content ideas.

The platform is scheduled to facilitate more than 3,200 meetings between writers and producers. Such meetings can help creators present their stories and concepts directly to people involved in content production.

The initiative also reflects the growing importance of original ideas in a media environment where audiences have access to a huge amount of content. Connecting writers and producers can help new concepts move from the idea stage towards possible production.

Broadcasting and Regulatory Issues

Broadcasting regulation is also part of the discussions at FICCI FRAMES 2026. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is represented at the convention by Principal Advisor (B&CS) Ashok Kumar Jha.

His keynote address is scheduled to focus on tariff forbearance in broadcasting. Broadcasting regulations and pricing issues remain important as television services continue to operate alongside streaming and other digital platforms.

The discussion provides an opportunity for industry stakeholders to examine regulatory issues affecting broadcasters and consumers while the media sector continues to change.

Mumbai Hosts Two Days of Media Discussions

FICCI FRAMES 2026 brings together different parts of the media and entertainment ecosystem in one platform. Television networks, streaming companies, filmmakers, creators, technology firms, gaming professionals and other stakeholders are taking part in discussions on the future of the sector.

The two-day convention in Mumbai covers both established media businesses and fast-growing areas such as AI, gaming, creator-led content and emerging technologies. With the theme focused on creating value in an age of unlimited content, the event is addressing how India’s media and entertainment industry can respond to a rapidly changing digital environment.
