Vivekananda Statue Seattle Installed at Westlake Square

The Vivekananda Statue Seattle has been placed at Westlake Square in downtown Seattle, one of the city’s busiest public spaces. The area welcomes over 400,000 visitors daily, making it an important location for the statue.

Created by Indian sculptor Naresh Kumar Kumawat, the statue is the first of its kind to be hosted by a city government in the United States. This makes the installation a historic achievement for both India and Seattle.

Unveiling Ceremony Attended by Leaders

The statue was unveiled on April 11, 2026, by Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and India’s Consul General in Seattle, Prakash Gupta. The ceremony saw participation from community leaders, Indian-American members, and local residents.

Traditional Indian dance and cultural performances added colour to the event and reflected the spirit of India’s heritage.
