11th IISF 2025 has become an important national headline as the India International Science Festival officially began on 6 December 2025 in Panchkula, Haryana. The festival, which will run until 9 December, continues its mission of promoting scientific awareness, public participation and innovation-led development across the country. Since its launch in 2015, IISF has grown into a major platform where researchers, students, innovators, industries and policymakers come together to share ideas and explore the future of science in India.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!IISF has always aimed to take science beyond laboratories and bring it closer to society. The event reflects India’s expanding scientific ecosystem and the country’s aspiration to strengthen its position in global research, technology and innovation. With thousands of participants and a wide range of scientific sessions, the 11th edition is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic gatherings in recent years.
11th IISF 2025: Theme “Vigyan Se Samruddhi” and Its National Significance
The central theme of the 11th IISF is “Vigyan Se Samruddhi: for Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” The idea behind this theme is simple yet powerful scientific progress brings prosperity, and a stronger scientific base leads to a more self-reliant nation. The festival is built around science-led growth, innovation-driven enterprises and indigenous knowledge systems that together reinforce the idea of a confident and future-ready India.

This year’s theme emphasises how modern research, traditional wisdom and emerging technologies can work together to support national development. From climate science and biotechnology to space systems and quantum technologies, the festival highlights areas where science can transform lives and strengthen the country’s journey toward self-reliance. The theme also focuses on empowering communities, improving industry-academia collaboration and inspiring young minds to participate in scientific exploration.
11th IISF 2025: Strengthening India’s Scientific Identity
The India International Science Festival aims to nurture curiosity and innovation across different sections of society. Every year, the festival encourages young scientists, students and innovators to engage with experts and explore new research opportunities. The event also highlights India’s achievements in science and positions the country as a hub for knowledge creation.
This year’s festival places strong emphasis on connecting scientific institutions with the general public. Exhibitions, demonstrations, interactive sessions and discussions aim to simplify complex scientific ideas and make them more accessible. The focus is not only on inspiring young talent but also on strengthening India’s identity as a nation that values research, creativity and knowledge-sharing.
11th IISF 2025: Major Focus Areas Driving Innovation
The 2025 edition highlights five major focus areas that represent India’s scientific priorities and future development goals. These include:
1. Ecology and Science of North-West India and the Himalayan Region
The ecological diversity of this region and the challenges posed by climate change make it an important subject for research. The festival discusses sustainable solutions, conservation efforts and climate resilience.
2. Science for Society and Education
This area focuses on using science to improve everyday life, expand learning opportunities and increase scientific understanding among the public.
3. Self-Reliance through Science and Technology
Central to the festival’s theme, this area explores how innovation, technology and research can strengthen India’s economic independence.
4. Biotechnology and the Bio-Economy
With biotechnology emerging as a major driver of the global economy, IISF 2025 highlights India’s growing capabilities in genetic research, healthcare innovation, agriculture and biomanufacturing.
5. Integration of Traditional Knowledge with Modern Research
India’s indigenous systems ranging from traditional medicine to agricultural practices are being studied scientifically to enhance their value and global relevance.
More than 150 scientific and technical sessions are planned, covering priority areas including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, space research, gene editing, climate studies, advanced materials and sustainable solutions. Experts from various fields will participate, offering insights into the challenges and opportunities of modern science.
11th IISF 2025: Participation and Collaboration Across Sectors
This year, the festival is expected to attract over 40,000 participants, making it one of the most engaging events in the science community. The diverse participants include:

- Scientists and researchers
- University and school students
- Industry leaders and innovators
- Women scientists
- Startups and entrepreneurs
- Policymakers and educators
Such a wide mix of participants helps create new partnerships, exchange knowledge and inspire fresh ideas. IISF continues to serve as a multi-stakeholder platform where new scientific possibilities can be discussed, tested and shared.
The festival also encourages startups to showcase innovative products and solutions. These interactions help bridge the gap between research labs and real-world applications, giving young innovators a chance to present their ideas to larger audiences.
11th IISF 2025: Organisers and Partner Institutions
The Ministry of Earth Sciences is leading the organisation of the 11th IISF. The event is being coordinated by IITM Pune, with support from several major scientific departments and institutions, including:
- Department of Science and Technology (DST)
- Department of Biotechnology (DBT)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- Department of Space
- Department of Atomic Energy
These institutions are contributing research exhibits, technology demonstrations and panel discussions.
