Mission Shakti App for Women Safety
Mission Shakti App is a digital platform launched to improve the safety, support, and empowerment of women and children across India. The application brings together several important government helpline services in one place, making it easier for users to access emergency assistance, legal support, cybercrime reporting, mental health services, and child protection. The platform reflects the growing use of digital technology to improve public services and make essential support available through smartphones.
As India continues to expand digital governance and citizen services, the Mission Shakti App aims to provide quick access to important government schemes and emergency contacts while supporting women and children in different situations.
What Is the Mission Shakti App?
The Mission Shakti App is an integrated mobile platform developed under the Government of India’s Mission Shakti programme.
Instead of searching for different helpline numbers separately, users can access multiple services through a single application.
The app connects people with government support systems related to:
- Women’s safety
- Child protection
- Emergency response
- Cybercrime reporting
- Legal assistance
- Mental health support
- Welfare schemes
This integrated approach helps make public services more accessible and user-friendly.
Mission Shakti Programme
Mission Shakti is a flagship initiative of the Government of India focused on the safety and empowerment of women.

The programme covers the 15th Finance Commission period from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
It has two major components:
Sambal
Sambal focuses on women’s safety, protection, and security.
It supports initiatives aimed at preventing violence against women and improving access to emergency services and assistance.
Samarthya
Samarthya focuses on women’s empowerment.
The programme promotes welfare, education, skill development, financial inclusion, and social support to improve the overall well-being of women.
Together, these two components bring multiple government schemes under a common framework.
Important Helpline Services Available
One of the biggest strengths of the Mission Shakti App is its integration of several important national helplines.
The app provides access to:
- Women Helpline – 181
- Emergency Response Support System – 112
- National Cyber Crime Helpline – 1930
- Child Helpline – 1098
- Tele-MANAS Mental Health Helpline – 14416
- Poshan and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Helpline – 1515
- National Legal Services Authority Legal Aid Helpline – 15100
By keeping these services together, users can quickly reach the appropriate support system whenever required.
More Than an Emergency App
The Mission Shakti App is not limited to emergency assistance.
It also provides information and support related to:
- Nutrition programmes
- Maternity benefits
- Child welfare
- Legal guidance
- Mental health counselling
- Government welfare services
This makes the application useful for both emergency situations and everyday access to public welfare schemes.
New Digital Features
The application continues to receive updates that improve its functionality.
One of the recent additions is the SHe-Box Pledge feature, introduced in the “What’s New” section on 25 June 2026.
The SHe-Box system is designed to support workplace safety by promoting awareness and encouraging action against workplace harassment.
The new feature helps strengthen the platform’s focus on creating safer environments for women.
Support in 22 Indian Languages
To make the application more accessible, the Mission Shakti App has been integrated with Bhashini, the Government of India’s language technology platform.
This allows users to access services in 22 Indian languages.
Multilingual support helps people from different regions use the application more comfortably without language becoming a barrier.
The integration also supports the government’s larger vision of making digital public services available to everyone.

Digital Governance and Public Services
India has increasingly adopted digital platforms to improve access to government services.
Applications like the Mission Shakti App demonstrate how technology can simplify communication between citizens and public authorities.
With mobile internet usage growing across the country, integrated digital platforms make it easier for people to receive timely assistance, report incidents, and access welfare schemes without visiting multiple offices.
Such platforms also improve awareness of government services that many people may not have known about previously.
State-Level Implementation
Mission Shakti has also been implemented at the state level.
For example, Mission Shakti Phase 5.0 was launched in Uttar Pradesh on 20 September 2025.
The programme focuses on:
- Women’s safety
- Dignity
- Health
- Self-reliance
- Social empowerment
State-level initiatives complement the national Mission Shakti programme by expanding awareness campaigns and improving local implementation.
The Mission Shakti App represents an important step in bringing multiple public services together on a single digital platform. By offering emergency helplines, legal assistance, cybercrime reporting, mental health support, multilingual access, and information on government welfare programmes, the application strengthens digital access to essential services while supporting the safety and empowerment of women and children across India.
