Vande Bharat 100th Trainset rolled out by Indian Railways with modern features, Kavach safety system, and sleeper services.

Vande Bharat 100th Trainset marks another big achievement for Indian Railways. On 2 May 2026, Indian Railways rolled out the 100th Vande Bharat trainset from the Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli. The new 16-coach chair-car trainset is equipped with advanced technology and will soon undergo oscillation trials before entering passenger service.

Vande Bharat 100th Trainset Manufacturing Network

The Vande Bharat trains are manufactured at three major railway coach factories in India. These are the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, and the Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli. These factories play an important role in producing semi-high-speed trains for Indian passengers.

The rollout of the Vande Bharat 100th Trainset shows the rapid growth of India’s modern railway network.

Features of Vande Bharat 100th Trainset

The newly built trainset comes with many modern features for better safety and passenger comfort. It includes fully sealed gangways, automatic plug doors, and advanced noise reduction systems.

One of the major highlights is the Kavach Automatic Train Protection system. Kavach is an indigenous train collision avoidance system developed for Indian Railways. It helps improve train safety and reduces the risk of accidents.

The trainset also uses a Siemens propulsion system for smooth and faster operations.

Expansion of Vande Bharat Services

Indian Railways has expanded Vande Bharat services across different routes in the country. The Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express started regular operations on 2 May 2026. It became the first direct rail connection between Jammu and Srinagar.

The service runs with a 20-coach configuration and covers the journey in around 4 hours and 50 minutes. It operates six days a week.

Vande Bharat sleeper services also began commercial operations on 17 January 2026 for long-distance routes between 800 km and 1,200 km. The first sleeper prototype was rolled out by BEML in September 2024.

Growth of the Vande Bharat Programme

The Vande Bharat train programme started in 2018 with only two trainsets. Over the years, the project expanded rapidly with chair-car and sleeper versions for both short and long-distance travel.

The Vande Bharat 100th Trainset highlights India’s focus on modern rail transport, improved passenger comfort, and advanced railway technology.
